SECOND TRY TO USE PORT-A-CATH, I HAVE A VERY BRAVE DAUGHTER

SOME HAVE ASKED "HOW DOES A PORT-A-CATH WORK SO I THOUGHT I'D TAKE SOME PICTURES TO SHOW YOU. NOTHING STICKS OUR OF HER SKIN ON A NORMAL DAY, ONLY WHEN SHE IS RECEIVING MEDICINE

KATIE IS GETTING CHECKED BEFORE THEY START. I FINALLY GOT A SMILE OUT OF HER, SHE IS STILL NERVOUS HOPING THINGS WORK. YOU CAN SEE THE WHITE CREAM ON HER CHEST. ITS CALLED EMLA CREAM, IT HELPS NUMB THE AREA SOMEWHAT. THE NEEDLE ISN'T SMALL THEY HAVE TO USE SO WE USE EMLA TO NUMB IT AS MUCH AS WE CAN! WENDY ONE OF HER FAVORITE NURSES IS READY TO GIVE IT ANOTHER TRY. I MADE SURE ONE OF OUR FAVORITES WERE WORKING WHEN I SCHEDULED HER.

FIRST TIME AND IT WORKED, THE MINUTE KATIE STARTED ACTING LIKE THERE WAS A WEIRD TASTE IN HER MOUTH I KNEW WE WERE IN AND GOOD. SHE ACTUALLY DOES GET A WEIRD TASTE IN HER MOUTH LIKE A METAL TASTE, ITS FROM THE FIRST STUFF THEY HAVE TO PUT IN BEFORE THE MEDICINE, THAT WAS A GREAT SIGN BECAUSE WE WERE ALL HOLDING OUR BREATH.

SHE HAD A REACTION TO THE TAPE SO WE THINK WE HAVE THAT FIGURED OUT FOR NEXT TIME, BY THE END HER SKIN WAS ALL RED AND RASHY. ONCE THE INFUSION IS OVER THEY PULL OUT THAT WHITE THING IN THE CENTER AND THE TUBING AND EVERYTHING IS DISCARDED. SHE JUST HAS THE SCAR YOU CAN SEE AT THE TOP BY THE TAPE LEFT WHEN ALL IS OVER AND DONE.

MIKE CAME OVER TO SIT WITH HER THROUGH THE NIGHT BECAUSE I WAS SO BUSY I WAS HAVING A HARD TIME RUNNING BACK AND FORTH PLUS KATIE HAD BEEN TRAUMATIZED AND I DIDN'T WANT HER TO SIT THERE ALL NIGHT ALONE

JAXAN COMES TO MY AID WHILE TENDING KENDALL. SHE PUSHED THE STROLLER AROUND THE KITCHEN FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES, KENDALL WAS LOVING IT. KEPT TO KIDS ENTERTAINED AT THE SAME TIME.

Julie had been planning a trip with her laurels for quite some time to come down and do babtisms at the St. George Temple and the Vegas Temple. Long story short it all fell through last minute because of the girls. Julie called and asked if Katie I wanted to do the trip with her so along we went.

I may as well put this next picture in since everyone already knows. The chlorine at the las vegas Temple made me have a major asthma attack and my inhaler was bad (didn't know it at the time). Its a long story but I'll spare you. I finally ended up on oxygen at the temple, the picture looks like I'm laughing but I'm actually sucking for any air I could get. The problem is with asthma is that if your lungs are closing up oxygen will only help so much. Finally after 20 minutes or maybe an hour who knows I wasn't paying attention to time, we decided to rush to a pharmacy and get a new inhaler. I was out of breath by the time we got to the pharmacy, I had no more lung function and was starting to shake and not walk well. Poor julie was probably about ready to freak. I was in control the whole time except when I talked to Mike on the phone, I got off the phone and got back in control. We arrived at Albertsons and I'm searching all over the store and sinally find out they have no pharmacy. By then my air was gone I started feeling a bit panicky. Luckily there was another pharmacy right outside across the lot, once I finally got the inhaler wow, I was fine, I was exhausted but fine. I was going to make that short, well I guess that was short compared to the whole nightmare. I don't think the girls will forget that trip now will they!

WE HAD A FUN TIME BUT WE PRETTY MUCH RAN THE WHOLE TIME. WE STAYED AT JULIES CONDO IN MESQUITE THURSDAY AND FRIDAY NIGHT AND THEN THEY HEADED HOME SATURDAY. IT WORKED OUT GREAT FOR ME THAT THE LAURELS DIDN'T COME DOWN, WE HAD FUN TOGETHER. WE DIDN'T EVEN WALK OUT BY THE POOL WE WERE SO BUSY, ITS WAS A FUN MINI VACATION EVEN IF THE INHALER WAS BROKEN. GOOD MOVIE OUT ON DVD TO WATCH IS "GOING STRONG", ITS A TRUE STORY. WE DID GO SEE "MY SISTERS KEEPER" IT WAS ALSO GOOD SHOW, ITS ANOTHER TRUE STORY, A BIT EMOTIONAL THOUGH!
